To that one soul
reading this
I know you’re tired,
You’re fed up, you’re so close
to breaking but there’s
strength within you,
even when you feel weak.
Keep fighting.
At some point in a human life there comes a time when how we’ve been living, who we’ve become, no longer fits with who we yearn to become. How we yearn to live. Maybe we’re even living a life that, from the outside, looks picture perfect. And for a while, for a very long while, it even felt that way.
But then one day you wake up and you feel…off. As though something vital is missing from your life. And you find yourself longing for something different. Something…more, despite the fact that you’ve done everything right. You’ve triumphed over the challenges in your life. Accomplished amazing things.
And still those days when you just feel off start piling up. It’s like there’s an undercurrent of…restlessness, frustration, anger even, and you have no idea why. You just feel as though your life is lacking meaning. Purpose.
So you look at all the things that are wrong. And there are many. So many. But really, none of those things are the cause or the answer. Because what’s wrong, what really hurts is your heart, which you’ve long since abandoned in favor of your brilliant mind. And now your soul is crying out for something more. Something deeper. It is crying out for meaning. For purpose. Except you have no idea what that looks like or where to even begin to find it. And just when you think you’ll go mad with longing for answers, for that thing that will change your life, the Universe (call it God, the Divine, whatever that voices inside looks like for you), speaks.
She speaks.
Unfortunately, the answer is more like a riddle. One that, just when you think you’ve solved it, you realize that the joke is on you. Because this change you seek? It will take the rest of your life.
But somehow you know, you know, that the journey will be worth it. So worth it.
